Yes, I know. I’ve been neglecting sharing my walking trips with you. But I promise to update you on past and future walks on a more regular basis.
To be honest, I haven’t taken too many trips since I posted at this time last year. But I do have one or two walking trips I did in the last month or so that I will share with you in the coming weeks. Plus, I’ll be doing more park and woodland trail walking as the weather gets cooler in September and beyond. I may even have some winter walks if the weather permits.
Wishing everyone happy holidays and a bright new year.
Although there hasn’t been any snow yet this year where I live (and none in the forecast), I thought a wintery picture might get everyone in the mood…for spring maybe.
I haven’t posted much in the past few months. One of my 2024 resolutions is to get into the outdoors more and then post about it. Whether this happens, remains to be seen. Anyone want to take bets? Ha!
Most likely for future posts, I will continue my walks through forested areas, but will try to get to the beach and other fantastic outdoor areas. Warmer months might show more sand and sun than leafy canopies, so stay tuned.
I wish everyone happy holidays. I hope it was a pleasurable time for you and your family. Wishing you a happy and healthy new year.
I will be using various guides for my walks. I’ll refer to both state and local guides to plan and navigate my walks. For example, I will probably refer to njspots.com or americawalks.org, among several others, for information on great walks. I live in the MidAtlantic region of the United States, so, for the time being, that’s where my walks will be concentrated.
Generally, I will focus on trail walks through natural areas. But I will also do some small-town walks and visit interesting sites.
As an example, the photo above is of the Toms River in the area of Toms River, New Jersey. There are a few ways to access the river for walking—Island Heights, where this photo was taken, has a lovely boardwalk to take in the scenery. There, you can stroll or complete your exercise walking. The river can also be accessed from Toms River itself as well as a small park on Atlantic City Boulevard in Beachwood, New Jersey. Plus, it can be accessed from Pine Beach (which looks across the river to Island Heights), Bayville or Ocean Gate.
In future posts, I’ll get into more specifics about each walk.
So, come on along. I invite you to come along with me as I travel around to find fabulous, scenic walks.
Hello fellow walking enthusiasts. My name is Jane. I’ve been walking for exercise purposes for about 45 years, since my mid-20s. (Yeah, I’m sort of giving away my age. Ah, well, so be it.)
Thanks for visiting my website. I plan to talk about the ups and downs of walking, including pleasure walks and walking for exercise. Now, I’m not a power walker or anything, but I do walk at a moderate pace of 2.5 or 3.0 miles per hour, depending on the weather and my physical condition each day. I’ll also highlight the walking shoes I wear, places where I walk for enjoyment other than my two planned exercise walks, clothing, and reading material like magazines, books, or websites. I’ll also talk about what I listen to while I walk—music and audiobooks, usually. But I’ve always wanted to get back into listening to podcasts, so that may factor into future posts.
I’m glad you found my site and hope you stay and walk with me.
